PATRICIA HAR-EVEN

Born and educated in London, emigrated to Israel from vaguely
alienating Surrey in 1968, spent five months learning Hebrew in Ulpan,
excited and delighted, settled in Carmiel in the Galilee.  Returned to
London in 1975, missing family and the fleshpots of the West.  Spent
33 years earning a boring but lucrative living, slaving over a hot
computer and longing for Zion and retirement.  Achieved this
apotheosis in 2008.  Now I work for nothing cataloguing non-fiction in
the 40,000 volume English library in mountainous Safad, a magical city
in the sky.  How many people get to do what they want to do?
